Manitoba and Prince Edward Island Invite Candidates Through PNPs

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are immigration programs designed to select individuals whose skills and experience align with the labour market needs of specific Canadian provinces and territories. Established in 1998, PNPs aim to spread the economic benefits of immigration more evenly across Canada by allowing provinces to nominate candidates who wish to settle in their region.

Manitoba and Prince Edward Island invited candidates recently through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). Manitoba's draw prioritized candidates with higher education and direct invitations, while PEI's draw targeted provincial residents and international student graduates from specific universities.

On February 20, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued 87 invitations to candidates in the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories. This category targets skilled workers who are either already in the Express Entry pool or are eligible to apply through the Labour Impact stream. These individuals typically have work experience, education, and skills that align with the labor market needs of the province.

The draw focused on individuals employed in key sectors vital to the province’s economy, as well as those who have lived and worked in PEI for at least one year. International student graduates from the University of Prince Edward Island, Holland College, and Collège de l’Île were also prioritized.

On February 20, Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held a draw under the International Education stream, inviting 19 candidates to apply for provincial nominations. To qualify, candidates needed a master's degree or higher and a Manitoba supporter who is a close relative, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and has lived in the province for at least one year.

The second MPNP draw under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream invited 22 candidates, with the lowest score being 711. In total, 41 Letters of Advice to Apply were issued, including seven to candidates with a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code. Together, these draws highlight Manitoba’s continued focus on attracting skilled workers and international graduates to meet its labor market needs.
