New Brunswick has stopped endorsing certain occupations under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), which allows skilled workers to settle in Atlantic Canada. To qualify, candidates need a job offer from a designated employer in the province. Benefits of the AIP include direct eligibility for permanent residency, a two-year work permit, faster processing times, no LMIA requirement, and personalized settlement services.
Effective immediately, New Brunswick will no longer endorse applications for the following occupations under the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP):
New Brunswick will no longer support AIP applications for certain occupations, including accounting technicians, cooks, and bartenders. Foreign nationals with job offer in these roles are no longer eligible for permanent residency under the AIP. However, endorsements for some occupations, such as retail managers and hotel front desk clerks, will continue to be processed if applications were received before February 18, 2025. New applications for endorsement in these roles will not be accepted after that date.
Endorsement applications submitted before February 18, 2025, will be processed as usual, but new applications for the listed NOCs will not be accepted after that date. To apply for permanent residency under the AIP, foreign nationals must have a job offer from a designated employer and provincial endorsement.
The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) has adjusted its 2025 immigration plans due to a 50% reduction in federal allocations for Provincial Nominee Programs. New Brunswick received 2,750 invitations cap this year, with 1,500 allocated to the NB PNP and 1,250 to the AIP.
New Brunswick is prioritizing sectors such as healthcare, education, and construction due to immigration constraints. The food and beverage sector has been heavily affected by recent NOC restrictions under the AIP, and several streams, including the New Brunswick Express Entry stream, have updated their lists of eligible occupations.
To be eligible for the AIP, foreign nationals need a job offer from a designated employer and must be either a skilled worker or a recent graduate from a recognized Atlantic Canada institution. New Brunswick will only accept endorsement applications for foreign nationals outside Canada in the healthcare, education, or construction trades sectors.
