How To Conclude Your Essay in The IELTS Writing Test?

The Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) as well as the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) equally trust and acknowledge the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) to evaluate a non-native English language speaker's language skills. A language test result like the IELTS test result is necessary to migrate to Canada. An excellent IELTS score, often, if not always, plays a key role in the outcome of a Canadian immigration application.

A little change in a candidate's IELTS score can have a huge impact on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the Express Entry linked immigration programs. “The conclusion” is an essential component of your IELTS Essay. Not only does a strong conclusion provide the reader with a feeling of closure, but it also serves to highlight the significance of the essay's primary ideas or points of view.

In the IELTS writing task 2, there are a few things you should do—or not do—while writing your conclusion (closing paragraph) to increase its effectiveness. It is possible to improve your IELTS Writing band score by being aware of what to include and what not to include in your final paragraph. Let's now examine some advice that you can practice and use in your answer:

Step 1 | Go back to your introduction paragraph

Since your introduction and conclusion should be tightly related to one another, you might wish to see them as two parts of a single puzzle. Ensure that you refer back to the concept or ideas you introduced and provide any new information you learned after writing the essay's body.

Step 2 | Recap the key points of your essay

Your conclusion must provide a synopsis of the key ideas in your essay. However, take care not to repeat yourself. Rather, demonstrate to the examiner how your points of contention and the evidence you provided fit together.

Step 3 | Avoid repetition

Avoid utilizing the same terminology as in your body paragraphs when summing your essay's primary ideas. Change up your vocabulary to avoid using the same phrases and sentence patterns repeatedly. This will demonstrate to the examiner your ability to employ a broader vocabulary and grammatical structures.

Step 4 | Express your viewpoint

You will always be required to provide your perspective in the form of an essay for Writing Task 2. If, as you approach the last paragraph, you find that you haven't expressed your viewpoint, be sure to do so in the conclusion to make it apparent what you think.

Step 5 | Refrain from starting a fresh argument

Make sure your conclusion does not bring up any new issues. Remember that your conclusion should bring your article to a close rather than offer new concepts.
