635 candidates have been invited by Canada to apply for permanent residence in the draw that was held on September 1. Through this draw, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited those candidates who held a provincial nomination through Express Entry.
Since the candidates held a provincial nomination, they already had 600 points added to their profile and therefore, the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off [specific to this draw] was 764. The cut-off time published for this draw was for April 12, 2021, at 12:21:45 UTC – this is the tie-break rule published by IRCC for every draw regardless of whether there was a tie or not. The invited candidates have 60 days’ time to submit all the required documents.
The number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) being issued has doubled this year compared to 2020. So far, IRCC has issued 106,414 ITAs, and this number is closer to the IRCC’s target of issuing 108,500 invitations to newcomers this year. Other than for Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) and Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC), Express Entry draws are held for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) candidates selection. Among these, the cut-off CRS scores for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) vary by large margins. Provincial Nominations specific draws usually see larger cut-off score [compared to Canadian Experience Class] due to the addition of 600 points to the profile upon receiving a nomination and typically, they range between 740 and 760. CEC draws usually have a lower cut-off because the draws are concentrated on a specific group of applicants who have worked for at least 1 year in Canada in the last 3-year period. The graph below shows the CRS score cut-off for the last 10 draws.
Express Entry is an electronic selection system used by the Federal as well as Provincial governments of Canada [to select], as well as designated Canadian employers [to nominate] candidates for Canadian permanent residence under three of its popular economic [skilled] immigration programs:
Candidates eligible for any of the above programs are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the Express Entry Pool. It is based on their Core/Human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French, etc. And, based on scores, candidates are periodically invited (or nominated) for permanent residence.
