Canada has invited 5500 candidates in the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residence on January 11th. Foreign nationals who ranked among the first 5500 were eligible for invitations. The issuing of invitations happened on11th of January. The Comprehensive Ranking System CRS cut-off score required in this draw to get selected was 507.
If there is a tie between candidates, the cut-off will be based on the date and time their Express Entry profiles were created. To learn more on this topic, visit this section on our website. In this draw, candidates from all Express Entry aligned Federal Programs were eligible. That is, the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC), & Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

As it is evident from the graph, from August 3, 2022, up until November 23, 2022, the cut-off CRS followed a downward trend. The lowest the cut-off score [in 2022] was 491, in November. While it is true that the cut-off score has increased, experts opine that the cut-off CRS score must always be read/analyzed in conjunction with the gap between the previous Express Entry draw to the current. The logic [or a thump rule] being that, longer the gap, the more likely the cut-off CRS score would increase.
The above graph shows the last 10 Express Entry draws. As we can see, every month there were at least 2 selection draws. In August, there were 3. Christmas & New Year being vacation time in Canada, no draw could not be conducted in December and hence the increase in the cut-off CRS – as per this logic. Our experts foresee the cut-off scores to follow a downward trend in the upcoming days so that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) can meet the multi-year immigration target it has set for 2023-25, i.e., to welcome over 500,000 new immigrants by the end of 2025.
Express Entry is an electronic selection system used by the Federal as well as Provincial governments of Canada [to select], as well as designated Canadian employers [to nominate] candidates for Canadian permanent residence under three of its popular economic [skilled] immigration programs:
Candidates eligible for any of the above programs are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the Express Entry Pool. It is based on their Core/Human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French, etc. And, based on scores, candidates are periodically invited (or nominated) for permanent residence.
