Yesterday (23 November) Canada invited 4750 candidates in the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residence. Foreign nationals who ranked among the first 4750 were eligible for invitations. The issuing of invitations happened on November 23rdThe Comprehensive Ranking System CRS cut-off score required in this draw to get selected was 491.

If there is a tie between candidates, the cut-off will be based on the date and time their Express Entry profiles were created. To learn more on this topic, visit this section on our website. In this draw, candidates from all Express Entry aligned Federal Programs were eligible. That is, the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC), & Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

The below chart shows the CRS Cut-off scores for the last 10 EE draws:

Like we discussed in our [related] previous article, the current cut-off CRS trend gives hope to the many who have been waiting to see the cut-off scores come below 500. This mainly includes individuals who are below 35 years of age, have good education, work experience, as well as language scores in English and/or French.

What is Express Entry (EE) & how does it work?

Express Entry is an electronic selection system used by the Federal as well as Provincial governments of Canada [to select], as well as designated Canadian employers [to nominate] candidates for Canadian permanent residence under three of its popular economic [skilled] immigration programs:

Candidates eligible for any of the above programs are given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the Express Entry Pool. It is based on their Core/Human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French, etc. And, based on scores, candidates are periodically invited (or nominated) for permanent residence.
