VFS Global Update | Effective 18 June 2022

VFS Global has two updates to their passport process, effective June 18th, 2022.  According to this update, candidates can visit the VACs in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, New Delhi, and Jalandhar on Saturdays only, to submit their passports and pick up their Decision Envelopes (DEs) as of 18 June 2022. Visa Application Centres (VACs) will only be open on Saturdays [from 9 am to 2 pm].

The Saturday service is only available to candidates who did not charge for the 2-way courier service. Travel agents and representatives are not allowed to submit passports or gather DEs up until further notice. Applicants may still submit their passports and pick up their DE through the two-way courier service during the work week.

Recently, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated their guidelines on Biometric Instruction Letters(BILs) stating that they will no longer accept expired Passport Submission Letters or passports that have already been submitted after their 30-day expiration date. In response to this guideline, VFS has provided information for applicants for Canada visas in India (BIL).

What is VFS?

Visa Facilitation Services Global is the leading provider of technological services and outsourcing for visas to governments and diplomatic missions around the world. The business handles the non-judgmental administrative duties relating to visa, passport, and consular services.  VFS Global supports the interests of 65 client governments with 3531 application centres and activities in 143 nations on 5 continents. Since its founding in 2001, the company has processed more than 243 million applications and more than 107.76 million biometric enrolments.

With an automated and seamless process, VFS Global offers a wide range of services aimed at improving the customer experience in public services. VFS Global, however, has no influence whatsoever on the decision to approve or reject a visa application.

From processing the visa applications, sending out notifications to returning the passports with visa decisions, Canada Visa Application Centre (CVAC) offers a broad range of services to the visa aspirants. Additionally, CVAC also manages the visa interview appointments. CVAC has nothing to do with the application decision since that task is carried out by IRCC.
