Prince Edward Island (PEI) Invites Applicants | Total 153 Invitations

Prince Edward Island (PEI), in the last 12 months in total, has issued a total of 1,511 invitations through the Express Entry Aligned and Labour Impact categories.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued 153 invitations yesterday [May 20]. These invitations were divided among 2 main categories, viz., Labour-Express Entry and the Business-Entrepreneur. A total of 137 candidates [in the Federal Express Entry pool and Labour impact categories combined] of Prince Edward Island(PEI) received Invitations to Apply(ITAs) for permanent residence. At the same time, a total of 16 candidates received invitations via PEI’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.

The PEI PNP has an Express Entry category which is linked [electronically] with the federal Express Entry selection system. Express Entry is a selection system used by the federal government of Canada to manage applications for Canada’s three main economic-class programs. Many provincial governments (including Prince Edward Island), managers immigration programs via Express Entry:

Coming to Federal immigration programs, candidates eligible for any of these programs are given a CRS score in the Express Entry Pool. It is based on their Core/Human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French. The highest-ranked candidates in the pool are then invited to apply for permanent residence through regular draws – provincial as well as Federal.

In order to be eligible for the PEI’s provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates need to create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP. Candidates who succeed in receiving the nomination, will receive an additional 600 CRS points added to their current score, which will, reasonably & rationally as per current trends, guarantee them an Invitation to Apply from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

The PNP did not specify how many specific Express entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited in the draw, neither it specified the minimum EOI scores required for receiving nomination from the provincial government.

Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category refers to foreign nationals who have a legitimate job offer in the PEI with the support of their employer in Canada. It is divided into three sections:

  • Skilled Worker

  • Critical Worker

  • International Graduate

Applicants under this category must create an EOI profile to be eligible for provincial nomination via the Labour Impact category.

Business Impact Category

The 16 candidates who were invited to participate in the Business Impact category on May 20 required a minimum EOI score of 62. These invitations were given under the Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign entrepreneurs intending to own and operate a company/business in PEI.
