The rising economy of British Columbia necessitates trained and experienced professionals. Workers in professional, management, technical, trade, or other skilled occupations can apply for permanent residency in B.C. under the Skilled Worker category. Nurses and educators are two professional occupations in great demand across British Columbia.

Qualified registrants in tech, healthcare, childcare, and other priority occupations have received invitations to apply from the BC PNP. The Invitations to Apply page has a complete list of minimum scores and total invitations given.

The BC PNP are focusing on healthcare personnel and early childhood educators.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs announced on March 10, 2022, that B.C. is responding to a critical shortage of healthcare workers and early childhood educators (ECEs) by making changes to the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Skills Immigration stream to prioritise these occupations and increase support for the care economy.

  • Select occupations in the care economy will be given preferential access through targeted invitations to apply, including registrants whose vocations are on a pre-determined list of in-demand health occupations, as well as early childhood educators.

  • Healthcare assistants and dental assistants have been added to the list of acceptable jobs in the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled categories.

  • Targeted invitations to apply (priority access) have replaced the registration points provided in the Labour Market Outlook for high-demand jobs.

  • Other skilled and semi-skilled individuals who match programme criteria will be drawn at random on a regular basis.

  • Invitations to apply might be based on a variety of variables that support the aims of the British Columbia government.

  • The Health Care Professional category has been superseded by the Health Authority category, which is available to all health authority employees.

  • The website now includes a summary of Strategic Priorities and Initiatives. BC PNP Tech has remained unchanged.

  • Management vocations (grouped under Skill Type 0 in the NOC) are only eligible to register/apply under the Skilled Worker categories; they are not eligible under the International Graduates categories.

  • Under the Skilled Worker category, the criterion of two years of closely relevant work has been replaced by two years of skilled experience.

  • New or clarified conditions are added to the employer’s needs.

  • Clarifying or altering requirements, as well as amending definitions, are among the other adjustments to the Skills Immigration categories.
