In the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw that was held on April 22, Manitoba has invited a total of 303 candidates across three of its PNP programs, which are, Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas, and the International Education Stream.

Meanwhile for the International Education Stream – which does not have a minimum score requirement – a total of 41 invitations were issued. 46 of the invitations were issued to candidates in the Express Entry system.

How can I qualify for Skilled Worker Overseas stream?

The Skilled Worker Overseas Stream (SWO) has a dedicated Express Entry pathway as well as a direct provincial pathway. It is designed for internationally qualified candidates with expertise and training in ‘in-demand’ occupations in Manitoba. Priority shall be given to applicants and spouses with close family ties, language skills, training, and work experience in Canada.

Manitoba Express Entry Pathway:  Candidates need skills, training, and experience in one of the ‘in-demand occupations’ in Manitoba, and a strong family relationship with the province.

Direct Provincial Pathway: It is applicable for international skilled workers with expertise and good knowledge for the in-demand occupations in Manitoba . Soon after arrival, the candidates should demonstrate their potentiality by finding a job as soon as possible.

How can I qualify for the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream?

The Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream (SWM) relies on the Manitoba employers’ specific needs. SWM will select and nominate foreign trained workers with appropriate skills for permanent residency in Canada. The stream gives priority to Manitoba candidates with pathways towards immigration.

Manitoba Work Experience Pathway: This stream targets foreign nationals who already have work experience in Manitoba and are working in the province at the time of application who were working on temporary work permits. Candidates do not need to be working in ‘In-Demand’ Occupations.

Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway: This stream is applicable for applicants from overseas with valid job offers from an approved Manitoba employer.

Requirements for International Education Stream

The Manitoba International Education Stream (IES) is dedicated to helping international graduates in Manitoba (graduated from colleges and universities of Manitoba) remain in the province as permanent residents.

In accordance with IES, applicants no longer must work in their field for six months before applying for an MPNP nomination. It is geared towards international graduates in the province who meet the eligibility criteria for the various pathways.
