The figures below are correct as of March 15, 2022. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is limited in the number of nominations it can give each year by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Alberta received 6,250 nomination certificates from the IRCC for the year 2021.

All 6,250 certifications for 2021 have been awarded by the AAIP. The AAIP will continue to evaluate applications currently in the queue, but no new certificates will be given until January 2022. In the Alberta Express Entry pool, there are roughly 500 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 850 expressions of interest. To assist you in determining the status of your application, information on application volumes and processing is provided.

Assessing indicates that a file has been allocated to an AAIP officer who will assess and make a judgement on eligibility. Applications received after the deadline have yet to be allocated to an officer for evaluation.

Application quality (completeness, eligibility, outdated application information or documents), labour market information, and the date the application was received are the most prevalent elements examined in AAIP application processing.

In the following vocations, the AAIP receives many applications and Alberta Express Entry submissions. It’s possible that certain submissions will take longer to process.
  • 6311 – Food service supervisors
  • 6211 – Retail sales supervisors
  • 1241 – Administrative assistants
  • 6322 – Cooks
  • 1221 – Administrative officers
  • 7511 – Transport truck drivers
  • 4214 – Early childhood educators and assistants
  • 0631 – Restaurant and food service managers
  • 1311 – Accounting technicians and bookkeepers
  • 0621 – Retail and wholesale trade managers

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), originally known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, is an economic immigration programme that nominates persons to live in Alberta permanently.

Nominees must possess skills to meet employment shortages or intend to purchase or establish a business in Alberta. They must be able to support their families as well. The Alberta and Canadian governments oversee the initiative.

If you are nominated under the programme, you and your spouse or common-law partner, as well as any dependent children, may apply for permanent residence status. Permanent residency applications are handled by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. These applications are likewise decided by the federal government.
