Saskatchewan held its first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on January 12, 2022, inviting 104 immigration applicants to apply for provincial nomination. The invited candidates required a minimum score of at least 68 out of 110 on the province’s International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid system. Out of those invited, 37 applicants qualify for the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program(SINP)’s Express Entry subcategory, while 67 qualify for the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.

Candidates with experience in one of six occupations were invited to apply:

  • medical laboratory technologists
  • paramedical jobs
  • psychologists
  • medical sonographers
  • occupational therapists
  • medical radiation technologists.

Educational Credential Assessments were required for candidates in both categories, to show that their foreign education is comparable to Canadian standards.

Express Entry subcategory:

This sub-category is an enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that is linked to the federal Express Entry system.

Express Entry is an electronic selection system used by the Federal as well as Provincial governments of Canada [to select], as well as designated Canadian employers [to nominate] candidates for Canadian permanent residence under three of its popular economic [skilled] immigration programs:

In order to be eligible for an invitation to submit for a provincial nomination, candidates with Express Entry profiles must additionally create the EOI profile for Saskatchewan. An additional 600 points are added to the Comprehensive Ranking System score for candidates who submit and receive a provincial nomination from the province of Saskatchewan.

This award effectively guarantees that they will be invited in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw to apply for permanent residence. This ensures that they will be invited to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

Occupations In-Demand subcategory:

The Occupations In-Demand sub-category is a base PNP, which means it is open to candidates without an Express Entry profile. This sub-category is for highly skilled workers with experience in a Saskatchewan-demanded occupation but has not yet been offered a job in the province.

In order to be eligible for an invitation to submit for a provincial nomination, candidates must additionally create an EOI profile through the SINP’s online application system.

Saskatchewan’s EOI system allows the province to select immigration candidates who have potential to thrive in the prairie province. Candidates will be assessed on how their work experience, education, language ability, age, and connections to the province demonstrate their ability to settle in Saskatchewan.
