On May 25, the province of Saskatchewan invited 269 immigration applicants to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
The eligible candidates got invitations from the Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP) through their International Skilled Workers’ category. The applicants were mainly targeted from Occupations In-Demand sub-categories. The invited applicants needed an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of at least 65, which is five points lower than the score needed in the previous selection.
They also needed an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report for their non-Canadian education to show that their foreign education was comparable to Canadian standards, as well as job experience in one of the 36 in-demand occupations list. The SINP uses the Expression of Interest (EOI) system to manage candidates selection from the Express Entry pool and Occupations In-Demand sub-categories. The EOI is a form indicating the candidate’s interest in immigrating to the province.
The Occupations In-Demand sub-category is also open to immigration candidates who do not have an Express Entry profile. This is a base Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) for highly skilled workers who do not have a job offer but have experience in any one (or more) in-demand occupations in Saskatchewan. In order to apply for Canadian immigration through this sub-category, foreign nationals need to create an EOI profile through the SINP’s online application system.
Applicants will be evaluated based on their professional experience, education, language ability, age, and ties to the province, as well as their potentiality to successfully settle in Saskatchewan.
The Express Entry sub-category is an enhanced Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) linked to federal Express Entry system. Express Entry is a system used by the Canadian government to manage Canadian permanent residence applications for three of its popular economic immigration programmes:
Express Entry applicants who receive a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan earns an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System score at the federal level, effectively guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply for Canadian permanent residence.
