A total of 159 Express Entry candidates were invited to apply for the Alberta Express Entry stream by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. Candidates were only required to have a CRS score of at least 352 to be considered in this specific draw. Selected candidates can now apply for a provincial nomination, which will place them high in the Express Entry queue.

All candidates who were invited in this draw had an active Express Entry profile. Express Entry is a system used by the federal government of Canada to manage Canadian permanent residence applications for Canada’s three main economic-class programs:

Candidates eligible for any of the programs are given a CRS score in the Express Entry pool. It is based on their Core/Human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French. The highest-ranked candidates in the pool are then invited to apply for permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws. Those who receive a nomination from the province of Alberta would automatically receive an additional 600 CRS points into their existing express entry profile, augmenting their chance of receiving a fast selection in Express Entry draws – in general, as well as those reserved specifically for candidates who secured a nomination from a Canadian province. Specific to this draw, it means that the lowest-ranking candidates in this draw will have a new score of 952.

This enhanced PNP is intended for Express Entry candidates who have close relations with Alberta or who can support the government’s economic growth and diversification priorities. Candidates also need to have work experience in an eligible occupation – an occupation that has been identified in demand in the province of Alberta.
