Saskatchewan held its latest PNP draw on January 7, 2021, inviting 385 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. Applicants from the International Skilled Worker category were invited through two subcategories:
Candidates from either subcategory were required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the province. The SINP uses the EOI system to select candidates who are most likely to thrive in the prairie province.
Candidates should demonstrate their commitment to building a future in Saskatchewan by showcasing their work experience, education, language abilities, age, and provincial ties.
Using these five criteria, the SINP evaluates candidates and gives them a score out of 110 on the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. The minimum score of 71 was required for both subcategories.
Express Entry subcategory: Saskatchewan issued 148 invitations to candidates who had profiles in the federal Express Entry pool. The Federal Express Entry scheme handles the selection of applicants for three of Canada’s largest economic-class immigration programs:
If applicants in the federal Express Entry pool also filed an EOI for Saskatchewan and scored 71 on the SINP Points Assessment Grid, they may have been invited in the latest draw. An additional 600 points are added to the Comprehensive Ranking System score (overall) of those candidates who received provincial nominations from the province of Saskatchewan.
This effectively guarantees that they will be invited in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw to apply for permanent residence. This ensures that they will be invited to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
Occupations In-Demand subcategory: This subcategory is open to candidates for immigration who do not have a federal Express Entry profile. There were 237 Occupations In-Demand candidates invited to apply for a provincial nomination. Like the Express Entry subcategory, the applicants needed a provincial score of 71 to receive the invite from the province. The Government of Canada has a processing standard of six months for permanent residence applications filed through the Express Entry system.
