Prince Edward Island has released 211 invitations to Express Entry candidates, as well as Labour Impact and Business Impact applicants in its first scheduled draw of 2021 – on January 21.

A total of 196 applicants from the Express Entry pool and Labour impact category of Prince Edward Island (PEI) received Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada. Whereas, 15 candidates were invited via PEI’s Business Impact Category under the Work Permit Stream. The PEI PNP has an Express Entry category that is correlated with the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry is a system used by the federal government of Canada to manage applications for Canada’s three main economic-class programs:

Candidates eligible for any of these programs are given a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score based on their Core/Human capital factors such as age, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French. The highest-ranked candidates in the pool are then invited to apply for permanent residence through the regular Express Entry draws.

In order to be eligible for the PEI provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates need to create an EOI(Expression of Interest) profile with PEI PNP. Candidates who succeed in receiving the nomination, will receive an additional 600 CRS , which, reasonably guarantees an Invitation to Apply from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.  This specific draw did not specify how many Express entry and Labour Impact candidates were invited in the draw, neither it specified the minimum EOI scores required for different categories.

Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category refers to foreign nationals who have a legitimate job offer in PEI with the support of their employer in Canada. It is divided into three sections:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Critical Worker
  • International Graduate

Applicants under this category must create an EOI profile first, in order to be eligible for Provincial nomination via the Labour Impact category.

Business Impact Category

The 15 applicants who were invited through the Business Impact category on January 21 required a minimum EOI score of 80. These invitations were given under the Work Permit Stream, which is for foreign entrepreneurs intending to own and operate a company in PEI.
