Express Entry Intake Volume Increased | Total 4,500 Invitations Issued

An all-time high of 4,500 invitations were issued on this 136th Express Entry draw that took place on 19 February 2020. The CRS score of lowest ranked candidate invited was 470.

The cut-off CRS has come down by 2 points compared to the 135th EE draw, and as per the opinion of seasoned immigration lawyers as well as Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs), this can possibly mark the beginning of the downward trend of cut-off CRS score in 2020. Also, the increased intake volume (a total of 1,000 extra invitations this time compared to the previous EE draws) points to the fact the government of Canada is now trying to meet the multi-year immigration target. The Government of Canada’s target is to finish inviting at least 350,000 by the end of 2020.

The implications of the multi-year immigration policy that came into effect early in 2018, as well as the statistics surrounding intake volume pertaining to the Federal Skilled Worker Class alone, reasonably predicts that the the cut-off CRS score in the upcoming Express Entry draws specific to Federal Skilled Workers Class (FSWC) should reduce drastically. Owlspriority Immigration’s Panel of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants had predicted a plausible decrease in CRS cut-off in the upcoming Express Entry draws, and the same was published in our Newsroom pertaining to the 135th Express Entry draw.

This means that if you are a skilled professional planning to migrate to Canada, this is the right time for you. A minimum pass score of 67 out of 100 is required at the Federal 6 Selection Factors to qualify for Express Entry aligned programs.  These include the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Below are the draw statistics of the 136th Express Entry draw:

Number of Invitations issued: 4,500

Date and time of the draw: February 19, 2020 at 13:19:54 UTC

CRS score of the lowest ranked candidate: 470

Tie-break rule used in this draw: January 13, 2020 at 10:52:52 UTC

This means that all Express Entry profiles that were active in the pool with a minimum CRS score equal to or greater than 470, and which entered the pool at (or before) the lock-score (tie-break) timestamp were considered while the Federal Government of Canada issued Invitation to Apply (ITAs) this time.

Express Entry is an online selection system, through which the Federal government of Canada (IRCC) selects candidates for economic immigration to Canada through three programs – Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – as well as a portion of Provincial Nominations (enhanced nominations).
