Qualification for the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream
The Manitoba Stream Skilled Worker (SWM) is based on the specific needs of employers in Manitoba. SWM selects foreign workers and nominates them for permanent residency in Canada with the necessary skills.
The stream gives priority to candidates with a strong Manitoba attachment, with two pathways to immigration to Manitoba.
a) Manitoba Work Experience Pathway
For applicants currently working on temporary work permits in Manitoba, through the Foreign Temporary Workers Program or as international graduates from any province. Candidates do not need to be working in In-Demand Occupations.
b) Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway
For Overseas applicants with job offers from approved Manitoba employers.
Qualification For The Skilled Worker Overseas Stream
The Skilled Worker Overseas Stream (SWO) includes both a Canada Express Entry Pathway and a Provincial Direct Pathway.
It is intended for skilled international workers with skills and training in Manitoba’s In-Demand occupations. Applicants and spouses with close family connections are given priority, plus language skills, training and quick job-finding experiences.
a) Manitoba Express Entry Pathway
International candidates eligible under another stream of MPNP, who also meet the criteria for Express Entry and have an active Express Entry profile. Candidates need skills, training, and experience in one of the In-Demand Occupations in Manitoba, and a strong family connection with the province.
b) Human Capital Pathway
International skilled workers with skills, training, and experience in an In-Demand Occupation in Manitoba. Candidates must show potential to find employment soon after arriving in Manitoba.
Requirements for the International Education Stream
The International Education Stream (IES) is dedicated to Manitoba college and university graduates from around the world. Under IES, candidates are no longer required to work in their field for six months before applying for an MPNP nomination.
It has three pathways:
a. Career Employment Pathway
Eligibility requirements include:
Completed a one-year or longer course from an eligible Manitoba post-secondary institution within three years of application filing.
Have a full-time job offer in an occupation related to completed degree in Manitoba
b. Graduate Internship Pathway
Masters and doctoral degree holders who have completed Mitacs Accelerate or Elevate internships may apply for appointment through internships, even without a provincial job offer.
c. Student Entrepreneur Pathway
Eligibility requirements include:
* Completed a two-year or longer course at an eligible post-secondary institution in Manitoba.
* Six months of business practice in Manitoba
* Manitoba resident since graduation
* No clear minimum personal net value requirement
