The minimum score for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tumbled again to 440 as Canada conducted its latest Express Entry draw aimed at candidates from the Canadian Experience class.

On May 28, 3,515 candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence.

Minimum scores in the six Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws which have taken place since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Canada have now fallen from 467 to 440.

The most recent draw follows a draw on 27 May aimed at candidates for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which saw 383 invited candidates and a minimum CRS score of 757.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has adopted a policy aimed at PNP and CEC candidates since COVID-19 travel restrictions were introduced on 18 March.

Applicants in both categories are more likely to be in Canada than those coming through the other Express Entry programs, which means that they will not be affected by travel restrictions.

Since March 18, Canada has made 12 draws, six targeting PNP candidates and six targeting CEC candidates. 23,420 ITAs were issued, including 2,915 to PNP candidates and 20,505 to CEC candidates.

To date, Canada has issued 42,100 ITAs in 2020, with a total of 85,300 issued in 2019. In 2018, IRCC broke the record for the annual ITAs of Express Entry with 89,800.

Minimum CRS Score falls to 440 in Canadian Express Experience Class Draw

Canada ‘s target for highly skilled admission to immigration by 2020 is 85,800, up from 81,400 in 2019. However, permanent resident admissions are likely to be affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

The latest draw saw the tie-breaking rule implemented at 6.36 a.m. EST on 7 March 2020. If more than one candidate had the minimum CRS score, invitations were received only from those who submitted their Express Entry Profiles before that date and time.

This was the 17th round of Express Entry invitations in 2020, and the 150th overall.
