British Columbia hosted another round of invitations on October 27, 2020, allowing 354 immigration applicants to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. The draw invited Skilled workers and International student graduates from the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams.

The EEBC category is for applicants with a valid profile in the Express Entry system of the federal government, which is Canada ‘s key route for qualified immigrants seeking permanent residence. The SI category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the province of British Columbia.

The minimum scores required to secure an invitation in this draw ranged between 75 and 94 points. The minimum score required for successful candidates was as follows:

  • SI – Skilled Worker: 93

  • SI – International Graduate: 94

  • SI – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 75

  • EEBC – Skilled Worker: 92

  • EEBC – International Graduate: 93

British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) categories are managed under BC’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). In order to apply via the SIRS, qualifying candidates must first register an account. Candidates eligible for any of these programs are given a CRS score in the Express Entry Pool. It is based on their Core/Human capital factors such age as, work experience, education, and language ability in English and/or French.

High-ranking candidates in the pool are then invited to apply for permanent residence through the regular Express Entry draws. Candidates who receive express entry scores below the CRS cut-offs can apply for provincial nomination programs, which is the best option to increase scores. High-ranking candidates in the Express Entry pool are issued ITAs through regular invitation rounds.

Categories that are governed under the SIRS require applicants to have a job offer from an employer in BC. Candidates who succeed in receiving the nomination will be awarded additional 600 CRS points automatically, which will effectively guarantee them an Invitation to Apply from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
