The Unusual Express Entry Draw That Happened This Thursday

The 104th Express Entry draw has happened on this November 15th. For the fourth time in a row, the total intake for the Federal Skilled Workers Class (FSWC) seems to remain as high at 3900.

The Express Entry draws usually happen on Wednesdays, if not on Mondays. However, the draw that happened this November 15th proves differently because it was a Thursday. Whilst the question remains if this unusual draw is a pointer to the fact that government of Canada is trying to meet their annual immigration target for the year 2018 (based on the 3-year multi-year immigration target; 2018 to 2020), the fact that the lowest CRS score of selected candidates in this 104th Express Entry draw was 449 points to the fact that the volume of potential candidates applying to immigrate through FSWC is increasing worldwide.

Though 449 is not the highest Express Entry CRS cut-off score that has been announced in 2018, this is a direct message to serious and interested aspirants to speed-up the process if they have not received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) yet.

Below are the draw statistics of this 104th Express Entry draw:

Number of Invitations issued: 3,900

Date and time of the drawNovember 15, 2018 at 14:06:07 (UTC)

CRS score of the lowest ranked candidate: 449

Tie-break rule used in this draw: September 16, 2018 at 12:41:42 (UTC)

This means that all Express Entry profiles that were active in the pool with a minimum CRS score equal to or greater than 449, and which entered the pool at (or before) the lock-score (tie-break) timestamp were considered while the Federal Government of Canada issued Invitation to Apply (ITAs) this time.

Express Entry is a selection system, through which the Federal government of Canada (IRCC) selects candidates for economic immigration to Canada through three programs – Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – as well as a portion of Provincial Nominations (enhanced nominations)
